EEEP2203 DIGITAL ELECTRONICS I

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND CONTENT
I. Generalities:
Number systems: Natural number systems, Whole numbers, integers, Rational number system,
Number representations: Decimal representations, Binary representations and algorithms, Hexagonal representation and algorithms, Octal representations, Binary arithmetic and algorithms, Round off errors, Conversion from one system to another.
II. Different codes: Binary, Decimal, Gray, ASCII, Conversion from one code to another
III. Logic gates: Fundamental logic gates (OR and NOR), Other gates; Combination of logic gates, Diode and transistor as switch, Different logic families (DRL, DIL, TTL, RTL); Main digital IC circuits (TTL and characteristics, CMOS and characteristics)
IV. Combinational logic circuits: Explain the principle of operation of combinational logic, Write down a logical sum of product equation, Fundamental of Boolean algebra, Karnaugh map, Simplification using different methods, Adder, substractor, multiplier, counter down, Mutiplexers and demultiplexers
