Second Semester
Course Objectives The main objective of this course is to enable students to study Modernism British literature within the context of the historical, cultural and technological changes, which we refer to as ‘modernity’. The course aims at focusing on close textual analyses of poetry, prose and drama, and by emphasizing the critical context for interpretation. The course is also designed to develop students’ ability to analyze literary works on their own while practicing to organize and express their own ideas following trends in modernist discourse as modernism, existentialism, feminism, the avant-garde, Bildungsroman, symbolism, postmodernism, theatre of the absurd, etc.
