Second Semester
GENERAL PHYSICS FOR LIFE SCIENCES
Designed for Biochemistry, Geology, Microbiology, Plant/Zoology & Medical Lab Sciences.
Instructors: Prof. TABOD Charles T. & Dr. GAH-MUTI Salvanus YEVALLA
COURSE SUMMARY
This course provides a foundational understanding of physics specifically tailored for students in the life and earth sciences. We skip complex proofs to focus on how physical laws govern biological systems—from the flow of blood in veins to the formation of minerals in the earth and the electrical signals in our nerves.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Understand the physical principles behind biological processes (e.g., fluid flow in plants and animals).
Apply laws of thermodynamics to metabolic energy and geological heat.
Relate electricity and magnetism to nerve impulses and diagnostic equipment.
Master basic optics to understand human vision and microscopy.
PROFESSIONAL CONTEXT
Whether you are analyzing soil samples (Geology), calculating medicine dosages (Biomedical Sciences), or studying cell membranes (Microbiology), the physics covered here is your essential toolkit for professional practice in Cameroon and beyond.
